Appointees and agents for disabled people What are appointees and agents? A disabled person who needs help getting social security benefits can ask for someone else to be made her/his appointee or agent.
An appointee can take on the responsibility of claiming and collecting benefit for someone who is unable to do this her/himself. An agent can arrange to collect benefit from the post office for someone who is unable to get there, but the disabled person remains responsible for her/his claim. Where can I find out more information of what this would involve If you want to become an appointee or agent or are a disabled person who needs this kind of help you should contact you’re nearest Citizens Advice Bureau.
