Service
What does the parent partnership do ? .It aims to ensure parents and carers are better informed of their rights and responsibilities and are helped to understand special educational needs polices in Wakefield. The intention is to support all parents Staff are available to offer impartial, confidential advice over the telephone or in person. As part of the local education authority's commitment to improve access to information, the Parent Partnership Service has produced an 'Information Pack for Parents and Carers'. This pack is free to parents and carers and includes a range of information about help and support available from the Education Department, Health Authority, Social Services, and Voluntary Organisations as well as details about benefits. Wakefield has a strong community approach to education. Therefore, the
Parent Partnership Service offers accredited Independent Parental Supporter
(IPS) training to a range of individuals, e.g., Parents, Governors, all
school staff, local community leaders, voluntary sector organisations
etc.
