Always remember that any child with a disability or special needs, is a child first of all. Any condition they may have should always come second.

Whizz-Kidz
The movement for non-mobile children

Does your child need "tailor Made" mobility equipment?

Whizz Kidz has a very simple goal to get children with disabilities mobile!
By providing "tailor made" mobility equipment Whizz Kidz dramatically changes young disabled lives in the UK giving them the best possible means to get about and experience independence, often for the first time.
We believe that children with disabilities should be given the same opportunities and independence s their able-bodied friends.

Whizz Kidz provides a broad range of mobility aids that are not available through the National Health Service, including powered, manual, and sports wheelchairs, specialised tricycles, bicycles, buggies and walking aids.

Meeting individual needs

Our team of experienced mobility therapists located across the country, are all qualified occupational or physiotherapists with specialist knowledge of mobility equipment for children. Each child is personally assessed by one of our experienced team who then arrange mobility equipment trials and offer advice to the child and family.

Our comprehensive therapy service is unmatched by any other voluntary organisation. We are able to provide wheelchair or mobility aids that best suits the child's individual needs Whizz-kidz has helped thousands of children with disabilities to lead independent lives they never thought possible!

Serving a need

Whizz-kidz was set up in 1990 to address the growing demand for tailor made mobility aids so it is vital that we serve the specific needs of the children and maximise our resources.

We actively encourage 'joint' funding of all applications. This may involve collaboration with the NHS Voucher Scheme or working in partnership with local wheelchair, health, education or social services it could also mean providing private funding in the form of parental contribution, working hand in hand with other charities or through money raised through the child's local community.

Is your child eligible for help from Whizz-kidz?

You may be eligible for support if their mobility or movement is permanently restricted or if your child does not already have mobility aid that enables them to realise their true potential.

If you answer yes to the following 3 questions

Then you are eligible to apply for a mobility aid for your child.
I have already approached my local wheelchair, health, educational or social services to find out if they can provide the mobility aid my child needs?
I am aware that Whizz kidz operates a joint funding policy that will help funds my child's mobility aid?
I have the support of my child's therapist?

Assessment

Each application is strictly assessed on the child's ' social or clinical need. It is also important that we consider the child's immediate enjoyment how the family gets round, how often and where the equipment will be used.
Wherever possible when a child has outgrown their mobility aid we will recycle, recondition and re-issue it to another child. Reconditioned mobility aids are again tailored to suit their new owner as well as they did the first time.

Whizz Kidz takes into consideration the individual needs and circumstances of each child prior to any provision. All applications are considered, but funding is not guaranteed

Aftercare

Whizz-Kidz aims to provide a comprehensive aftercare service for every child. Once a child receives their mobility aid one of our mobility therapists will arrange any necessary training, follow up and review to ensure that the equipment is fully utilised and that it continues to meet the child's growing needs
Aspect of our aftercare service may also be undertaken in collaboration with the NHS the child's family or other charities.
